How to Offer Value and Get Leads on Linkedin

Linkedin is a unique site in many respects. In fact, I would say that it is also the least understood of the most popular social media sites. Many people create profiles on linkein but then abandon or rarely check the site because they get confused and don’t know how to make linkedin work for them.

Aside from your profile, there are three main ways to offer value and strengthen relationships with linkedin.

1. Groups- this is in my opinion, the most powerful and the easiest way to offer value on linkedin. You can join up to 50 groups and while you may not want to join that many, I recommend joining at least 20. You want to make sure that these groups have people in your target market in them. Then you want to participate by posting links to blog posts, asking quesitons, and anything else you can do to offer value to the members of the group. The main key is that the information you share needs to be relevant and of interest to the members of the group. Follow this basic rule and you will succeeed.

2. Answers- This feature is overlooked by many people yet it can be quite powerful. You can search for questions that people are asking and answer them. You can also ask your own questions and get valuable feedback. If you do this correctly, you can position yourself as an expert on the site and get more web traffic, more connections and more.

3. Events- many people are not even aware that Linkedin has an events feature. Events on linkedin can work quite well because not only can you invite your connections but the events that you post are public and are made available for everyone on linkedin to see. If you need even more visibility you can take it a step further and pay to advertise your event.

Do these three things correctly and you will see a major increase in the effectiveness of linkedin for your business and for job hunting and anything else that you are using linkedin for.

Is Your Marketing Magnetic? 7 Ways to Increase the Magnetic Pull of Your Marketing

Does your marketing attract people do you like a magnet? Do they remember you long after they have been and gone? One of the keys to your business success is to make your marketing magnetic.

Here are seven great ways to make it happen:

1. Make your marketing memorable. What can you do to make your slogan, motto, mission statement, website or anything else related to your marketing stand out so that it is memorable?

2. Offer insane value. People are annoyed by spam and used to people offering only a moderate amount of value. Go out of your way to help others and to give them all you can.

3. Find ways of forcing your prospects and customers to interact directly with your marketing. Make them want to bookmark it, share it, and talk about it with their friends.

4. Ask your feedback from anyone you can about how to increase the magnet city of your marketing. Ask them what would make them want to come back, buy more and share more.

5. Play around with your headlines, sub-headings and offers. Try offering various things and see which ones attract more attention and get more business.

6. Look at what others who have similar offers to yours are offering and then offer something better but similar. If it’s working for someone else then it would probably work for you too.

7. Work on yourself. Become magnetic yourself and your marketing will naturally become magnetic too.

How to Avoid Internet Scams

Internet scams seem to be everywhere. While the internet has created great opportunities for the average person to make money and for businesses to grow in ways that are not possible without the internet, at the same time it has also created opportunities for scam artists and for people to take advantage of others in ways that would not be possible without the internet.

So how do you start making money online or grow your business on the internet without wasting money or falling victim to the seemlingly millions of internet scams that are out there?

It can be challenging to avoid them, but once you know and understand some basic principles, it becomes easier.

1. Avoid the temptation to buy any program promising you that you will learn how to make money online without doing some research first. Know who you are buying from and have a clear understanding of exactly what you will get for your money.

2. Have a clear plan for your online business and for using the internet for marketing before you invest in any paid programs.

3. See what kind of information you can find online for free, before you pay for anything.

4. Do a Google search on the name of any program you are considering purchasing before buying to see what others are saying about it.

5. Realize that making money on an onging basis online is harder than many people make it seem. No matter what anyone says, making money on the internet is hard work.

6. Have a plan for how you will start an online business and be very clear about your intentions and goals before you buy anything.

7. Avoid buying into the hype that many marketers use to get you to buy their products and programs.

8. Be aware of what you need and what you do not need when getting started. Ask for advice if needed.

9. Only purchase products from people who you can contact after purchase if needed. If you cannot find a phone number and email for the person, don’t buy. If you are even somewhat hesitant contact the person and ask questions before you buy and see what kind of response you get.

10. If it seems to good to be true then it is probably an internet scam and should be avoided.

How to Choose the Right Target Market for Marketing with Social Media

Marketing social media requires you to be very clear and specific about who your target market is. Trying to market on social media to everyone will only lead to frustration and you will reach no one.

That said, how do you choose the right target market for marketing with social media? It can be difficult but if you keep a few things in mind it will be much easier.

1. Who do you connect with well based on your life experiences, your talents, and your hobbies and interests?

2. Who already buys your products and your services? If the answer is that it could be anyone or everyone, then you need to narrow it down to the major target markets. That is those who buy your products more frequently than others and in larger quantities than the average consumer.

3. Who has a problem that your products can solve? If you sell medical or health related products for example, then you need to create a list of all of the pains and problems that your ideal target market has.

4. Who is using social media to find answers to their problems? If you aren’t sure of this one then using your social network accounts to ask and to do research.

5. What target market are you already familiar with? or in other words, who do you already know and what is the main target market that they are a part of?

The Power of Autoresponders for Network Marketers

Are you using an autoresponder for your network marketing business?

If not, you should be. Autoresponders are the online software that manages and sends email campaigns for an email list. Some automated systems and capture pages have autoresponders built in or you can create your own campaign and connect it to a capture page, your own blog or a facebook fan page to capture leads.

Here are some ideas for using the power of autoresponders to grow your network marketing business:

1. Create a series of emails that explains all aspects of your company and business opportunity.

2. Create a series of emails that focuses on your products, their features and benefits and anything else anyone who would be interested in the products would want to know.

3. Create a series about any topic about which you are passionate.

4. Create a series targeted at a popular niche. Examples include stay at home moms, real estate professionals, other network marketers, and small business owners.

5. Create a motivational series that will inspire and empower people.

6. Create mini-ecourses on a variety of topics related to your hobbies, passions and products.

The possibilities are endless if you really think about it and put forth some work.

Furthermore, they are the number one way to recruit new distributors and sign up new customers online.
Autoresponders will drip on people and allow them to get the information they need when they need it. They also are a great way for you to keep in touch with prospects and to be there at the front of their minds when they are ready.

The most common objection I get from people when I ask why they are not using videos to market their business, is that they don’t know what to say. Well there are lots of things to say.

Here are some ways to get more ideas for videos than you could ever have time to create.

1. Talk about famous quotes and sayings.

3. Share words of advice based on your own experiences.

How to Be a Go Giver in Network Marketing

Bob Burg and John David Mann just released their new book, “Go-Givers Sell More”. This excellent book is the sequel to their first book, “The Go Giver.” While this book is not specific to network marketers, I highly recommend that ever network marketer as well as any business owner gets and reads a copy of this book. However, it is of course not good enough to just read the book, you need to also take action on what you learn.

Here are some ideas about how you can be a Go Giver and sell more with your network marketing business.

1. Master the art of appreciation. Do you really let people that you speak with, your customers and your team members know how much you appreciate them? Find little ways of doing this such as offering something extra, giving away free or discounted products from time to time, offering extra services and more.

2. Build networks and then share your networks with others. Give referrals freely and work to help others build their network.

3. Always be finding ways to give and offer more value to others than they expect. Give them value even if they do not join you or buy your product and they will remember you and in many cases, come back to you later.

4. Give, give, give and then give some more. Give even when it is not expected as well as when it is expected.

5. Share your stories, wisdom and experience with others and they will share theirs with you. Then use these stories to build relationships and to continue to strengthen your rapport with others.

Creating a Social Media Marketing System for Your Network Marketing Business

Do you have a social media marketing system for your network marketing business? If not then you need to create one in order for social media marketing to work for your network marketing business. Too many network marketers just jump in and start using all kinds of social media sites without creating a plan or a system and without really taking the time to figure out what they are doing, why they are doing it and how they are going to make it work for them.

Here are some things to think about when creating a social media marketing system.

1. Who is your target market? You need to have a niche or miss and ideally no more than 3. They also need to be specific and not too broad or too narrow. Examples of good ones include stay at home moms with young children, moms who homeschool their children, real estate professionals, discouraged network marketers etc.

2. How will you reach your target market with social media. Not all target markets use the same social media sites with the same frequency and what works great for one, may not for others.

3. What kind of content will you create? Videos? Audios? Blogs? Articles? You probably will want to do a mix but focus on one or two primary forms of content.

4. What will you use as your opt-in offer? You need to have a compelling one in order to build your list and over time get leads, sales, and new team members.

5. Which social media sites will you use? For how much time per day? What processes and strategies will you use in order to make your time on them spend effectively?

6. How will you measure and track your results?

7. What will you use as your lead generation center or hub? A blog? a capture page? an automated system?
There are no right and wrong answers to any of these questions, as the answers will vary according to company and individual, but you do need to answer them in writing before you get serious about using social media marketing for your network marketing business or you may find yourself not getting the results you had hoped for.

Are you letting your lizard brain get in the way of your network marketing success?

Do you have a lizard brain? The reality is that everyone has one although people who are very successful have learned to silence theirs. If you have read Seth Godin’s new book, Linchpin then you will have a really good idea of what I am talking about when I say lizard brain. In any case, the lizard brain is the part of your brain, your belief and your attitude that lets fear get in the way. It’s the part of you that procrastinates or that avoids doing something you know you need to do because well it’s just easier not to do it. The lizard in you is also the part of you that shows up at the last moment right when you are ready to experience a breakthrough or something really great in your business. It’s your internal resistance that says: I can’t or I’ll try or I’m afraid.

So what can you do if you feel like your lizard brain is getting in the way of your network marketing success?

1. Read or listen to a powerful motivational book or audio and start thinking about all of the reasons why you really need to go ahead and do what you know you need to do.

2. Yell out loud, enough and tell the lizard brain to get out of the way and then do it anyway.

3. Make a list of all of the benefits and what you know you will get if you go ahead and act anyway.

4. Practice makes perfect so keep doing it and doing it and you will improve over time and the fear will go away.
