How to Use Social Media to Build Local Buzz

Too often online network marketers have a tendency to think that social media is about long distance relationships or staying behind a computer. Yet using social media to build local buzz can be very effective. So how exactly do you do this? There are lots of options, however, here are a few.

1. Connect with local people on social media. It is even better if these are people you have already met at least once say at a networking event or a boutique or fair.

2. Schedule a live in person social media party and then invite everyone in your local area to attend.

3. Use the twitter search to connect with and offer value to people in your local area.

4. Create videos designed to be viewed by people in your local area.

5. Schedule a lot of local events and then use social media to get people to attend.

6. Write press releases and submit them to your local newspapers, magazines, TV stations etc.

Why Attraction Marketing Online Doesn’t Always Work

Have you tried attraction marketing online only to find that it didn’t work? or maybe it didn’t work to the extent that you had hoped? This happens all the time and in the post I would like to share some thoughts on why that is.

1. Your expectations are too high. Many times as online network marketers we read, listen or watch trainings by people who seem to be making it big and who seem to be making tons of money so we assume that they actually are and that they are doing the same things that we are, yet, in reality they probably are doing things quite differently. For example, they are spending money on ads and not just trying to do everything for free, they are combining offline and online, they are much more experienced and so they get better results with fewer leads, etc.

2. Just because you develop a relationship with someone does not mean that they will join you. People are attracted to many different people and they often are given the opportunity to join businesses with lots of people as well and since they have a lot of choices, there is no way that they will choose you every time.

3. Creating content to attract your target market and then hoping for bites does not work. You have to actively promote and share your content and then be aggressive about doing what it takes to get the business. One example, is that I recently have began contacting many of my facebook friends and linkedin contacts asking them to set up a time to talk and get to know each other better. These are not sales pitches but rather a way for me to develop relationships with more people quicker and therefore increase my online results instead of waiting for people to contact me.

4. You have the wrong mindset. The reality is that you can do anything you want and you can take all the right actions for attraction marketing online but if you have the wrong mindset about wealth and money or about people or anything else your results will stink no matter what.

Should you lead with your network marketing opportunity or product online?

Should you lead with your product or your opportunity online?

This is a tricky question and one that leaves many online network marketers with more questions than answers. That said, there is not one right way to do it.

However, here are a few things to consider:

1. You can technically do both without any major problems. The only challenge with this is that if you create separate websites or blogs then anyone who is serious about working with you, or about learning more about what you do, will find out what your products are without you having to tell them.

2. If you ever decide to leave your company and you switch to a product line that is significantly different then you will have a lot of work to do to explain why you are not marketing that product anymore an yes, you will leave behind a Google paper trail. Do this too many times and it will call into question your leadership and your stability as a person.

3. Some of the more serious leaders, who have a lot of network marketing experience will care more about you and your leadership than they will about your products. So by leading only with product you will leave out these potential prospects.

4. By not leading with product you will miss out on many customers and people who are looking for your products.

5. Everyone will eventually want to know what your product is so there are advantages to telling them upfront.

In short, I beleive that using a mixture of both is the best idea.

How to Never Run Out of Blog Content

Do you struggle to come up with ideas for your blog? Or do you feel like you are always talking about the same things and that your blog is boring and so you want to stop writing?

Well here are some great ideas to help you never run out of blog content.

1. Know your keywords. Use the Google Keyword Tool to do some research and create content that focuses on those keywords.

2. Think about the problems your target market has and then write content explaining to them how to solve those problems.

3. Read blogs on similar topics and then create posts that share your comments and expanded ideas on the same topics.

4. Answer the questions people ask on facebook, twitter, linkedin and other question and answer sites such as Yahoo Answers.

5. Search youtube for videos and share the good ones you find along with your comments.

6. Ask yourself what is missing from the videos you find and then create new content that completes the gaps.

7. Do a Google Search for your keywords. See what kind of content is out there and then come up with a way to address the same topics but with a new twist.

8. Think in terms of lists, and frequently asked questions.

9. Talk about the controversies that exist within your niche market.

10. Think about the questions people ask you and answer them.

11. Create top 10 lists of resources, blog posts from other blogs or from your own, top 10 videos etc.

Mail Chimp, Aweber, or Get Response? Which Autoresponder is best?

Are you using an autoresponder to build an email list for your business? If not, you should be. In fact, it really is a must if you plan to succeed with an online business. Mail Chimp, Aweber and Get Response are three of the most popular autoresponders. However, it can be challenging to decide which one to use. Here are some of the pros and cons for each one.

How to Blog Without Going Crazy

Blogging is crucial to online network marketing success. Yet too many network marketers don’t do it, or they don’t do it effectively. While there are a variety of reasons why, the number one reason I hear from people is that they have tried but just couldn’t do it without going crazy. Here are some tips on how to blog without going crazy.

1. Create a blogging plan. This is a must and too many people don’t do it. If you need help. I highly recommend the ebooks by Darren Rowse on blogging.

2. Have a specific niche market. This is another key one. You can’t just blog about anything and everything and expect success.

3. Set aside a few hours each week to blog. It won’t just happen. You need to block off time on your calendar to write your blog posts and to work on your blog.

4. Work on improving your blog and increasing traffic a little each day or each week. You won’t get a ton of traffic all at once, work on making your blog better a little bit at a time.

5. Celebrate your small successes.

Article Marketing Basics for Network Marketers

Article marketing can work quite well for generating leads online for network marketers. However, it can also take a lot of time and can waste a lot of time if not done correctly.

A few years ago I did a teleseminar on how to make article marketing work for network marketers. While a few things of changed, most things have stayed the same.

Here are some of the key points.

1. Select the right keywords.

2. Choose 2-3 niches to work with.

3. Find a list of websites where you can publish articles. Include article directories such as ezine articles as well as other heavy traffic sites.

4. Create a powerful capture box with a strong call to action to include at the end of each of your articles.

How to Ruin Your Online Reputation in Network Marketing

Many people ruin their online reputation in network marketing either by ignorance or out of desperation. If you want to be successful with online network marketing, then you must guard your online reputation like it is gold. How you are perceived online has a huge impact and you must be careful that you are viewed like you want to be.

Here are some things that people do that ruin their online reputation in network marketing:

1. They spam on social networks. This includes putting links on people’s walls on facebook, sending messages with links or promotions, sending out links and spam via twitter etc. People hate spam and it just makes you look bad.

2. Promoting more than one network marketing company at the same time. This sends the wrong message to people because it implies that your time and efforts are divided and that one company isn’t good enough.

3. Jumping from network marketing company to company. While it is normal and understandable that things happen and people change companies. If you leave your company without staying in it for at least a few years assuming that they are still in business, it looks bad on you and when marketing online, it makes you look especially bad. People are smarter than you think and they will figure out all of the network marketing companies that you have been in.

4. Promoting every latest and greatest marketing system and affiliate product. Yes there are ways to make additional income online with these but the more you promote these systems and products, the more you send the message to people that you are not a serious network marketer, that you are looking for the quick buck, and that you are not a serious leader with whom they should want to partner with for success. You also send the message that you are not making any or not much money with your company because if you were, then you wouldn’t need to promote all kinds of other stuff.
