Why Online Branding Can Be Bad for Network Marketers

Do you have an online brand? If you have read and studied from any of the famous or even not so famous online network marketers you have probably heard them say that an online brand is a must have for network marketers. Whether it’s Mike Dillard, Mike Klinger, Katie Freiling, Ann Sieg or any of the others, they all talk about creating an online brand.

So why is an online brand so important? And why can it actually be bad for network marketers?

An online brand:

Sells you to your online audience
Creates a know you, like you and trust you feeling with those who come in contact with you
Allows you to build a strong audience of followers
Attracts like minded people to you

So why would you not want an online brand as a network marketer?

Think about what network marketing success is founded on. It is founded on duplication and helping those you bring into your organization to duplicate your success and your actions. Can you really tell everyone you bring into your network marketing business that they need to create an online brand in order to be successful? What about those that they bring into the business? How easy is it really for someone to create an online brand?

The reality is that for most people creating an online brand is not easy. Furthermore, it takes a lot of time and most of that time could be spent recruiting and selling products which would in turn put more money into the pockets of most people faster. Creating your online brand is not in and of itself an income generating activity.

So should you still create an online brand? There is no yes or no answer to this question. The real question is what do you want out of your business and out of your life? If you want to make money fast and grow a large network marketing business, then creating an online brand should wait until you are already making money with your business. Furthermore, you need to realize that the percentage of people you bring into your business who will do what it takes to create an online brand will be very few. Most people will simply not do it and many others will become frustrated at seeing you do it and then feeling like they cannot do it.

How to Create a Strategic Marketing Plan

Creating a strategic marketing plan can be a challenge. However, it is also important for your long term success in business.

Here are some questions you need to ask yourself and answer before you begin.

1. Who is my main target market?

2. Who else do I want to market my products and services to?

3. Where can I find these people? Answer this question for both online-social media and offline as in networking groups, magazines, newspapers, clubs etc.

4. What can I offer for free to these people to create interest in my opportunity?

5. What is my budget now? What will my budget be in 6 months? In 1 year?

6. What are the primary methods I will use to build my business?

7. How much time per week will I spend working on my business?

8. Who do I need to connect with to get help in creating and working my strategic marketing plan?

Answer these questions thoroughly and while you will still need to make changes every few months, you will be well on your way to making a strategic marketing plan that will work for you.

Making Money Online with Google Adsense

Making money online with Google adsense is directly connected with making money writing articles online. In fact, most of the sites that pay you to write articles online use Google Adsense as the main way that they monetize your content. However, there are other ways to make money with Google Adsense on your own. There are three ways to do this:

1. Posting ads on your website
2. Posting ads on your blog
3. Sponsored ads on videos on youtube

Posting ads on your website may or may not be a good idea. Even if you want to make more money, you still need to consider the negative effects of doing it. This is especially true if you are selling something on your website. Do you want people to buy your product or to click on an ad? I’m betting that you want people to buy your product and the reality is that ads distract people away from your products and you will probably not earn enough to make it worth it. However, posting ads on your blog even if you are selling something may still be worth it. This is because blogs are not primarily used for selling things but for reading and learning. So ads on blogs can do quite well since the ads are related to your content on your blog. The main reason to not do it is if the ads that are showing up are ones for your competition. If you aren’t sure, then you can try it for a while and then you can always remove them. Sponsored ads on videos on youtube are not an option that you can choose. Youtube has to contact you and invite you to run ads. If they do this in most cases, you want to take advantage of it. There are very few negatives since if your video is too commercial they will generally not even offer you the option.

That said, how do you make money with Google Adsense as a primary online income method?

In order for this to work, you need to create a large variety of content sites. Each site needs to have a lot of content and be kept updated on a regular basis. You also need to learn how to integrate your ads into each site and how to place them for maximum clicks. This is no easy task, however it can be done but in order to earn more than a few hundred dollars per month, you need to love to write and to plan to spend most of your day writing. So if this sounds like something you want to do, then making money with Google adsense may be just your cup of tea.

One final note: according to many experts and from my personal experience as well unless you either have one very successful and very high traffic website that gets a lot of clicks, or several medium successful websites you will find it almost impossible to earn more than $500 a month with Google Adsense so just be prepared.

Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing

After making money online writing articles, affiliate marketing is probably the second easiest method to make money online. The main reason why this is true is because you get paid to market products that other people have created. You do not have to do any work to create any products and so right there most of the work is already done for you. That said it can still be challenging to make a lot of money with affiliate products. Here are some things to consider when getting started making money with affiliate marketing.

1. What niche will be target first? The more specific the better. You need to focus on one main niche and stick with it until you are profitable before you start working on another one.

2. What kinds of products will you promote as an affiliate? Some of the easiest are books from Amazon, web hosting, ebooks and other tools you already use. You want to make sure that most of the products you promote are ones that you have already used or tried yourself and found useful. Once you become an expert you will not need to have tried all the products but you should at least in the beginning have tried them all.

3. Who markets products that you already love? Contact these people or businesses and see if you can be an affiliate for them.

Making Money Online Selling on Ebay

Ever since Ebay first went online in the late 1990′s, it has been one of the easiest ways to people to create an online store and sell things via both auctions and fix priced options. In fact, many new auction sites have offered similar features, however, Ebay remains as the market leader in online auction selling. Most people use Ebay to hold online garage sales and to sell whatever they don’t want or if they have a business they will use it to sell old, leftover merchandise. I personally have used Ebay mostly for these purposes. I do not have an Ebay store and my business does not use Ebay. However, I do have enough experience using Ebay that I thought I would include it in these blog series about how to make money online. Also it is a viable option for many people who want to sell physical merchandise and who are just getting started.

In general though in order for any kind of serious money to be made on ebay, here are some rules and advice to follow.

1. Focus on a specific niche. Avoid selling too many items from too many different markets. For example, you don’t want to sell dresses, books, makeup and CDS all from the same store. The more specific your niche is the better.

2. Do your research. Know before you sell what items sell best on Ebay and at what prices.

3. Choose to sell items that are not the same thing that hundreds or thousands of other people are already selling.

4. Know that in order to make money online with Ebay you must still market it and focus on it like a business. Just because you are using Ebay does not mean that you will find it easier or less work.

5. Remember that you can also take advantage of Ebay’s often not used features such as the About Me page on Ebay, the forums, and free classifieds.

Making Money Online Writing Articles

One of the most frequently asked questions I get from people who see me marketing online is how do you make money online? This is in general one of the most frequently asked questions online as well. While you probably know if you have read any of my other blog posts that I am in network marketing, I do earn income online in other ways as well and I have been online for about 5 years now, so I have been there, done that so to speak with a large number of online income generating strategies. So I have decided to write a series of blog posts and talk about the various ways that I have made money online. Some of them are things I still do now, others are things I used to do but no longer do, and others are things I have experimented with but never really made more than a few dollars with.

For this first post I am going to talk about making money online writing articles. I have heard from several experts and it is also my experience as well, that the quickest and easiest way to make your first few bucks online is by writing articles. Why is this? Well there are three main reasons. The first is that it is easy to do.

There are lots of websites online that will pay you to write content. The content is then monetized with ads and you earn a share of the advertising revenue. Some of the more popular ones include Squidoo, Hub Pages, Associated Content, Info Barrel and Examiner.com. Furthermore most of these sites also allow you to include links to outside websites for generating leads for another business or for earning affiliate income, thus increasing your income possibilities. You can also find people who will pay you to write articles, blog posts etc, for them.

To locate these opportunities, the best places to look are freelance sites. However the competition is very steep on these sites, many people write for very low pay, and if you don’t have any experience with online writing then it will be more difficult to get paid. That said, in most cases, unless you are lucky you will have to write a lot of articles in order to make a decent income. Usually at least 50 to start with and even then it depends on your niche or niches and your writing skills. If you are very good and you use proper keywords, then you may earn more than the average person. In most cases though you cannot expect to earn more than $100 or so your first month. While they may not seem like a lot, you will still earn money faster by writing articles online than with most other methods. In addition if you keep writing new articles all of them time and especially if you are able to include affiliate links or links to lead generating websites then over time, your earnings will build and can become the foundation to your making money online.

7 Steps to An Effective Social Media Plan

Do you have an effective social networking plan in place? If not, you are like 95% of people using social networking. They are using these sites because they are popular and fun, but they do not have a clear written plan to help them use social networking effectively. Here are ten steps you can take to change that for you and to make sure that you do have an effective social networking plan in place.

1. Decide what your social networking goals are. Write down these goals and make them specific. Avoid being too specific since numbers are difficult at best to achieve with social networking. Examples of good goals include the number of new people that you will connect with per day, the number of new friends you will add etc.

2. Determine which social networking sites you will use. Most people cannot effectively use more than two or three. Make one site your main focus and then use the other one or two on a regular basis without letting them consume your life.

3. Determine where most of your target audience hangs out. In some cases it may be facebook, or it may be twitter, or myspace, or squidoo, or facebook groups or a combination thereof. Then develop a plan to spend the majority of your time where the people in your target market are.

4. Write down your social networking plan. Divide your action steps up according to daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly actions.

5. Use a timer when working on your social networking in order to avoid wasting time. Determine how much time you have available and then stick to it.

6. Use a printed out checklist when marketing on social networking sites. Check off each action step as you complete it.

7. Make revisions when necessary but commit to working your plan without giving up or making too many changes.

7 Steps to Creating an Ebook that Everyone Will Want to Read

Creating ebooks can be a great way to generate leads and make money online. However, there are so many ebooks out there that the process is harder than it seems at first glance. Here are seven steps you can follow to increase the likelihood that people will read and respond to your ebook.

1. Choose a popular niche topic.
This is crucial to your ebook’s success. The more specific the niche the better it is. You want to stay away from broad niches such as home business and network marketing. While you can certainly write an ebook on these topics, you need to find a specific niche from within that broader topic that you can target your ebook to.

2. Do research to determine what is already out there. What can you improve upon?
A great way to create an ebook that everyone will want to read and that will get results for you, is to find an ebook that is already written and then to take that ebook and to change 40-50% of it. Reword portions of it. Take out parts that you think are not helpful. Add a few new chapters and do anything else to it that you think will make it better and more helpful to your target audience.

3. Survey your already existing list and audience.
If you already have an email list and a following on facebook, twitter or other social networks then you can survey your audience and find out what they are looking for in an ebook. Be specific. Tell them you are writing an ebook and ask them what they would like to learn and read about.

4. Break up the text with pictures.
Nobody likes reading ebooks that have only text. Include 1-2 captivating and interesting pictures per page to grab the attention of your readers and to encourage them to keep reading.

5. Use captivating and interesting copy.
Copy is one of the major things that determines who is successful online and who is not. Learn to write well and to use words that grab the attention of your reader and of potential readers.

6. Tell your readers why your ebook is different from the thousands of others out there.
There are so many ebooks available for people to read now that if you want anyone to read yours then you need to make yours unique and you need to communicate its uniqueness to your audience.

7. Encourage others to share your ebook.
Find ways of making it easy for them to share your ebook. Experiment with things such as including a page inside your ebook inviting your readers to give it away to whomever they please, giving away your ebook on your website without an opt-in being required or posting part of your ebook on your blog with social media sharing buttons located right by it.

Selling information products is another great way to make money online. You can sell all kinds of information products, from ebooks to CDS to DVDS as well as home study courses and more. However, making money online selling information products can be one of the hardest ways to make a lot of money online. There are several reasons why but some of the main ones are:

1. You have to do a lot of work to create the products before you can sell them. While this is an obvious one, many people do not give it much thought. If you have already done a lot of online writing, or hosted teleseminars or webinars then it will be easier though since you can convert much of this content and package it into an information product. However, for beginners, it is best to start with another way of making money online.

2. You have to create and market products that fit in with a specific niche. You cannot just expect to create a bunch of information products from all kinds of niches and then expect to be able to sell them.

3. You need to already have an existing email list and audience before you can expect to make more than just a hit and miss sale when making money online with information products. The majority of your customers will be people who already know you, like you and trust you and so already having a list and an audience to sell to is crucial. You cannot just start selling info information products your first few days online as a business owner.

That said, if you have a specific niche and you create information products that speak to that niche and their problems, and questions as well as desires, you can do very well as long as you give it the time it takes to develop relationships with the people as well.
